Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a tactical shooting game where your main focus is to try and figure out where and how the products of a company are falling into the hands of a corrupted regime. You go with a team on Auroa, but you are cut off from anyone else and at this point the only thing that you can really do is wait. The game is fully focused on offering that sense of immersion and gameplay, and it continues to stand out with its unique focus on value and quality unlike never before.
While this is a third person game, you do have a first person view for aiming the weapons. You are playing the role of a Lieutenant named Anthony Perryman and you get to explore the world of Auroa, full of different landscapes and locations you can use to your own advantage. The world is even larger than the one in Wildlands, and you can easily use sea vehicles, land and air vehicles as well. You have 4 character classes at launch, and more might be added soon. It’s nice to see that each one of the classes comes with its own abilities.
The idea here is that you need to gain intelligence as you progress through the game. Thankfully, there are multiple missions and different methods you can use to stop a mission too. you have similar weapons to Wildlands here, but they have expanded to add in stuff like rocket launchers, combat drones and many others. You can even use stealth to kill enemies, you can even carry corpses if you want to stay hidden in the game which is a really good thing if you want to not alert the enemies.
This time around there’s more focus on survival. Enemies will learn from your attacks and they will try to undermine you as much as they can. That doesn’t mean it will be an easy thing for you, as you need to collect resources in the game to stay alive and you will also have to take good care of your character and the team itself. The challenges can easily arise and you will find the experience to become more and more intricate and demanding as time goes by. But it’s definitely something appealing to it and the outcome itself is definitely worth the effort.
What can you expect from Ghost Recon Breakpoint? The game does have some bugs, and it was quite buggy at launch but Ubisoft is patching it. Leaving that aside, the story is interesting and they tried to cram in many ideas from the other Ubisoft games. Some work really well, others feel to be pushed a bit. But as a package, Ghost Recon Breakpoint tries to do different things and doesn’t always achieve success. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, but it’s different and it can take a little while to get used to. Yet if you are very passionate about the Ghost Recon story and you want to see more, this is well worth it. The world is amazing, detailed and you will find the gameplay very fun once you get used to it!
