MXGP 2019, by Milestone, brings us the full 2019 season for the Moto GP enthusiasts in a very interesting and downright clever manner. What you will like the most about this new approach is that MXGP 2019 comes with a wide variety of new locations, all were cleverly scanned and redone with the idea of offering the utmost accuracy and value that you can find out there.
The game does a very good job at maintaining the sense of realism and quality while also pushing the boundaries in some creative and fun ways at the same time. A nice change of pace comes from the track editor that allows you to select between 4 landscapes and terrains, and then you can create the track that you want as you see fit. You have jungle biomes, French riviera hills, desert dunes, forest mud and so on. It’s fun and creative, but at the same time also quite challenging and distinctive, which is what you really want.
MXGP 2019 also has a location named the playground. This was created with the idea of offering you some fun and pretty interesting options to consider. Being able to train and just explore a pretty big open world is fun in this game and also rather refreshing. It does take a bit to get used to, not going to lie about that, but it does become a pretty nice experience to have and it will only get better from there, which is what you need.
As for the tracks themselves and the championship, they are basic. You can expect a recreation of the older tracks, so in that sense you receive a pretty good value and quality for the money. At the same time, there are some challenges here as you are actively trying to explore new methods and improve as you go along. It’s nice and fun, it becomes stale after a while once you complete everything though. But that’s why you have mirrored versions of the same track and so on. These do boost the variety and it just shows that you can have fun improving your skills.
Milestone usually has a hard time offering the best performance, but they nailed it with MXGP 2019. This one works really well actually, it offers just about all the features you can expect in a clever package and you will like it quite a bit. But remember that it does take a while to get used to the situation and the process itself. It’s not overly complicated, just different and you have to adapt to that as you go along. Which is not a bad thing at all.
Overall, MXGP 2019 is a great moto GP game. It has the latest tracks and contestants, it features a plethora of customization options and it even has improved controls. The game runs well, unfortunately the multiplayer is not that active but then again this is a niche game, so that’s to be expected. If you’re into moto GP races or racing games in general, you are bound to have a blast with this one.
