Decay of Logos – a great indie developer’s gem

Decay of Logos is one of the latest souls-like games coming from indie developers Amplify Creations and this particular one is based on European folklore. That adds in a sense of excitement but also a bit of a challenge, as it’s pretty new, creative and it strives to push the boundaries while also trying to keep things grounded at the same time.

Despite the initial approach that can make it feel overly different, you will find that Decay of Logos does focus a lot on the idea  of exploring a large world and completing all sorts of interesting quests. The main focus here is that you are trying to find the persons that attacked your home.

Decay of Logos

What follows is a great quest full of excitement, fun and intrigue but also a plethora of unique challenges that come as you go along. It’s very creative and fun, yet simplistic too. And that alone really paints the picture of what you can expect here. The emphasis in this game is exploration. Make no mistake, monsters and enemies are there. But they are alone most of the time and very powerful. You don’t have large hordes of monsters, instead you get more intimate encounters with monsters and that alone really sets off the tone and gameplay for this title.

The companion actually comes in handy because it will help you solve puzzle. And sometimes he might even help during battles. That being said, the challenging battles are the ones that will give you the most rewards and you will totally enjoy exploring all of that and finding new ways to engage in battle and just have fun with it for a change.

The lore is deep and intricate, and the game world itself is very nice. I particularly like the art style because it reminds me of the new Zelda title while also making it a lot more distinctive with the particles and nuances. It’s amazing to see this type of quality especially when it comes to graphics considering this is an indie developer.

Decay of Logos has a living world. Which means things are evolving and they are always expanding to that next level. Every NPC is voice acted, so you will end up with all kinds of quests or dialogue options. On top of that, the vibrancy and experience provided by this world really brings in that sense of immersion and great quality you rarely enjoy and access nowadays.

If you like fantasy games and RPGs that are rather difficult, you will feel right at home. Aside from that however, Decay of Logos is also a title about exploration, fun, exciting gameplay ideas and a plethora of demanding situations. It’s always nice to play this title as you get to enjoy the gameplay and just become better and better at it. Since it’s a Souls-like game, the enemy encounters can be particularly difficult. But you always feel a sense of fun and enticement when things go your way. It’s just an exciting and unique opportunity, one that you certainly do not want to miss.

Bottom Line

Gameplay - 9.3
Graphics - 10
Art - 10
Fun - 9.3

9.7

If you like fantasy games and RPGs that are rather difficult, you will feel right at home. Aside from that however, Decay of Logos is also a title about exploration, fun, exciting gameplay ideas and a plethora of demanding situations. Since it’s a Souls-like game, the enemy encounters can be particularly difficult. But you always feel a sense of fun and enticement when things go your way.
