When Sid Meier’s Civilization became a Microsoft Excel game

Yes, that’s right! You read it correctly. A fan just used MS Excel, the spreadsheet software, for recreating a playable version of 1991’s Sid Meier’s Civilization. Our hero shared this incredible feat on reddit, where other game developers and enthusiasts are just as amazed as we are at the high level of creativity that takes for someone to envision a game in the most unpredictable places. Not that others haven’t done a similar thing before, but something like Civilization I definitely didn’t see coming.

s0lly, the nickname used by the developer on reddit, named his creation s0lly’s [CELL]IVIZATION. He even made a dramatic and funny trailer to go with it. impressive masterpiece is being developed at the OLC (One Lone Coder) CODEJAM 2019.

If you want to see and play around with what s0lly has accomplished so far, you can download [CELL]IVIZATION right now.
